Una volta installato il programma, si può accedere a spiegazioni graficamente accattivanti e chiare sull’uso di ciascun tempo.

The first (and only) of these is on verb tenses. Once you install the programme, you will access simple and graphically clear and snappy explanations on the use of each tense.

Un sito piccino ma utile per chi vuole sentire e/o scaricare brevi conversazioni a livello elementare ed intermedio, corredate dalla versione scritta e da esempi di trasformazione.
Ancora da implementare le sezioni per chi usa il libro NorthStar e quella intitolata “Phrase of the week”.
Qualche spunto interessante per chi ha la pazienza di ascoltare le ben più lunghe conversazioni della Teacher’s Lounge.
A small but useful website if you want to listen to short conversations at elementary or intermediate level, equipped with a transcript and transformation examples.
The section dedicated to the users of the NorthStar textbook and the one called “Phrase of the week” still need implementing.
Some interesting issues are brought up for those who are patient enough to listen to the much longer conversations of the Teacher’s Lounge.

Un sito dalla grafica essenziale ma di grandissimo interesse ed utilità. Quasi quotidianamente vengono infatti pubblicati brevi articoli di attualità, disponibili sia in forma scritta che di podcast e corredati da un gran numero di esercizi di lessico, comprensione e discussione. Per alcuni dei circa 800 già sul sito è possibile scegliere tra una versione più semplice e una più complessa.
Sia i podcast che il materiale di supporto è facilmente accessibile dal sito ma anche scaricabile, in formato mp3 i primi, in formato doc e pdf il secondo.
Un ottimo e versatile strumento per insegnanti e studenti.
A website with rather basic graphics but of great interest and usefulness. Short current affairs articles are in fact published almost daily both in written and podcast form, equipped with a large number of activities for vocabulary, comprehension, discussion. For some of the more or less 800 already published there is the possibility of choosing between an easier and a more complex version.
Both the podcasts and the support material are easily accessible form the website but also downloadable, in mp3 format the first, in doc or pdf format the second.
An excellent and versatile tool for teachers and students alike.

Il sito, nonostante un certo affollamento grafico, offre quello che promette nel suo nome, e cioè la possibilità di testare il proprio inglese in più ambiti e a più livelli.
Ci sono test per verificare lessico, conoscenze grammaticali, inglese commerciale, espressioni idiomatiche e via dicendo, tutti con correzione automatica e con possibilità di accedere sia a spiegazioni su quanto richiesto che a copie stampabili degli esercizi.
Inoltre è possibile esercitarsi ed auto-valutarsi per i più importanti esami di accesso a istituzioni accademiche e non negli USA (TOEFL, TOEIC, GMAT ecc.) . Articoli, lezioni, letture, blog, forum e quant’altro finiscono di corredare il sito, che si fa facilmente perdonare la tanta pubblicità; tutto il materiale è infatti gratuito.
Per soli $9.90 di può inoltre comperare un libro (liberamente fotocopiabile) contenente 725 esercizi. Per chi ama ancora la buona vecchia carta!

There are tests for vocabulary, grammar, business English, idioms and so on, all with auto-correction options and with the possibility of accessing explanations about what is requested and a printable copy of the exercise.
It is also possible to exercise and evaluate one’s own adequacy for exams that allow access to academic and non-academic institutions in the USA (e.g. TOEIC, TOEFL, GMAT etc.) . Articles, readings, worksheets, a blog, a forum and much more complete the website, to which you easily forgive the somewhat cumbersome adverts; all the material is, in fact, free.

Ecco il sito di Tune Into English e del suo show.
Lo spettacolo itinerante, ideato da chi ha passione sia per l’insegnamento che per la musica, permette di portare nelle scuole non solo una lezione diversa dal solito ed entusiasmante, ma anche un metodo nuovo ed alternativo per imparare ed insegnare l’inglese attraverso le canzoni.
Nel sito, l’area per gli insegnanti contiene lezioni già preparate da usare in classe con canzoni note; alcune di queste vengono da altri insegnanti, e chi volesse può contribuire all’implementazione di questa parte del sito.
L’area per gli studenti contiene giochi, quiz ed esercizi di completamento (con musica da siti esterni).
La pagina sullo spettacolo contiene invece tutte le informazioni per portare lo show nella propria scuola: vi si possono vedere le foto, leggere i commenti, scaricare un dépliant illustrativo.

The roadshow, devised by people who have passion both for music and for teaching, brings into schools not only the possibility of having a fun different lesson, but also a new method for teaching and learning English through songs.
In the website, the Teachers’ Area contains downloadable worksheets for use in class; some of them are from other teachers. If you would like, you too can contribute.
The Students’ Area features music games, quizzes and gap fill exercises (with music from an external site).
The Tune Into English Roadshow has its own page, and you can see photos, read comments from those who have attended the show, and download a leaflet with further details.

English Language Centre – Study Zone

Un sito fornito dall’English Language Centre dell’Università di Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, su cui è possibile trovare esercizi soprattutto di comprensione scritta e grammatica, suddivisi tra cinque livelli numerati (200 – il meno avanzato, 330, 410, 490, 570). La sezione migliore è quella di Reading per il livello 330; le sezioni di inglese più avanzato sono invece piuttosto scarse.
Tutti gli esercizi sono scritti utilizzando una vecchia versione del software Hot Potatoes e, pur essendo efficaci, non sono molto curati graficamente.
A website provided by the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, on which it is possible to find mostly grammar and reading comprehension exercises, divided into five levels (200 – the least advanced, 330, 410, 490, 570). The best section is the Reading for level 330; the advanced English sections are, on the other hand, rather poor.
All the exercises are written using an old version of the Hot Potatoes software and, though they are quite effective, they are not graphically very attractive.

Un sito interessante per esercitare la comprensione orale e scritta del proprio inglese con quello che viene chiamato Tri-View Method, usando video di circa 10 minuti, suddivisi in un buon numero di categorie.
Il metodo consiglia di vedere ciascun video tre volte, le prime due con o senza sottotitoli in inglese, la terza rispondendo a quiz disseminati qua e là. E’ possibile scaricare anche il testo per ciascun video, dare un giudizio a quello che si è appena visto e perfino mandare i propri filmati fatti in casa.
Non è possibile scaricare i filmati, che sono visualizzabili in streaming con Flash player.
An interesting site if you want to exercise your oral and written comprehension with what is called Tri-View Method, using 10-minute long videos, divided into a good number of categories.
The method advises you to watch each video three times, the first two turning on or off subtitles in English, the third answering quizzes that pop-up here and there. It is possible to download a script of each film, to rate what you have just seen and even to send your own home-made movies.
It is not possible to download the films, which you can view using Flash player.
